Take control of the present and build your future health
We recognise the difficulties of getting fit and staying healthy in the modern world. As we go through life this becomes a major factor in how well we meet, manage and recover from challenges, be they with our physical health, mental wellbeing or simply the desire to avoid chronic illness and stay as fit as possible for as long as we can. There is overwhelming evidence to support the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, but what does that actually mean? At DrTlifestyle we unpick the maze of unsupported advice, fads and social media posts, to deliver science based, no-nonsense, sustainable lifestyle changes. Here, your personal goals are combined with your health needs, offering a healthier, happier life.

We know that it is impossible to achieve and maintain health goals without focus on nutrition. When searching for guidance it is so easy to get overwhelmed by the wealth of information, be it in the form of hard science, established experts or media platforms. DrTLifestyle aims to cut through the static and offer bespoke nutritional advice, tailored for your health needs and personal goals guiding you to healthy eating for life . Claudia is a Professor of Nutrition with a PhD in the Psychology of Eating; all our advice in grounded in up-to-date research and practice. Whatever your dietary preferences and requirements, we will support your journey to healthy nutrition from the outset to help you reach your full potential. (Your nutrition support is provided directly by Angus as part of your personal training or coaching package. Whilst his support grounded on discussions with Claudia, a highly qualified Nutritionist, Angus remains fully responsible for the advice given. This support is intended to help with general dietary habits and lifestyle change. It is not medical nutrition therapy and does not replace advice from a UK registered dietitian or your GP.)
We understand that even specific goals cannot be met in isolation. Whilst even small steps made with exercise and nutrition result in significant health benefits, greater gains can be made by optimising mental health, sleep, relationships and the avoidance of toxic influences; together these are the principles of Lifestyle Medicine (LSM). This forms the basis to our approach to your wellbeing and we are both registered members of our national LSM organisations. As part of your LSM review, we support referral to other specific healthcare professionals, with consent and transparency, to facilitate specialist input.

Angus and I are sitting on the soft crash mats at the foot of Oakley Sport Centre's
token climbing wall. He is focused on some gadget and scribbling down figures on a
pad. He looks up, removes his glasses and announces with glee "47". "47 is your new biological age". I smile. A milestone indeed.
Back in 2019 I was probably hovering around the 74 year old mark. My body had
been subjected to the sadistic roller coaster of cancer treatment, leaving me scarred
and diminished both physically and emotionally. My days of running around
parklands with yummy mums were long gone and I had resigned myself to no
longer being able to eat what I liked, when I liked. I also needed a new wardrobe.
A few years later, a chance encounter with Dr Angus Turner set me on the slow path to recovery. We had discussions, not so much around fitness but rather on how to remain healthy for as long as possible. As a fully trained medic, Angus understood what my body had been subjected to and how best to turn things around. Diet and sleep were integral to the programme.
We started off gently and over the next few months fine-tuned a routine, that combined exercises at home, in the gym and out in the open air. For a week I kept a photo diary of my eating habits which were then scrutinised and improved. Angus also reviewed my daily routine in order to optimise on exercise opportunities throughout the day.
I now rarely take escalators or lifts. Instead, I climb stairs two at a time. When in London, I'll factor in time to walk between meetings, rather than take the Tube or a taxi. Carrying shopping bags
counts as a workout not a chore. I've upped my proteins and excommunicated refined sugars.
Having reached a basic level of fitness, we're now stepping up a gear which is where
Angus' Army Reserve training kicks in. Test and adjust, adapt and overcome, Mission Impossible has become Mission Possible.
Angus is an excellent personal trainer he has been key to training me to an excellent level of physical fitness and wellbeing over the past few years. More recently he has helped guide me through preparation and recovery from complex open heart surgery.

He as been through rigorous training to become a fully qualified consultant anaesthetist and ICU head of department and trainer
